Getting Started with Bible Journaling
Bible journaling is an exciting way to engage with Scripture. It can transform the way you spend time in the Word and it all begins within the margins of the Bible.
Where to Begin
To begin, you’ll need a journaling Bible and supplies to help your journaling be more fun and creative. You can visit your local craft store to find scrapbook paper, markers, colored pencils, stickers, or anything else that you like. To stay cheaper, you can visit a local Dollar Tree to find some of these items at a lower cost. Dollar Tree is always a wonderful place to find great items for any kind of journaling.Time to Journal
- Read and reflect on the Scripture. As you read, find a verse in your reading and find how it applies with you and your current life.
- Find words in the scripture that stand out to you. For example, I will use John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” With this scripture, you may find “loved” or “believes” as keywords that stand out to you.
- Think about how to visualize these words. These words can be written in your journal different, maybe cursive or in all CAPs.
- Draw or decorate with stickers to show the verse visually and what it means to you. Some people love to draw while others would rather use scrapbooking methods and use stickers. Use these images, however, you create them, to bring your page alive.
