Oh boy do I remember the old time ornament and napkin ring idea!

Ornament Essential oils
A simple recipe, fun and safe for kids, and of course a wonderful way to teach children the art of giving.

ornament essential oils

Coming into a season of giving I wanted to create ideas for gift giving, table decor, and an activity to do with youth. Since we are past the little ones in the home and yet to have grandchildren, I thought of this old recipe to have the youth make for their loved ones. Plus, these little gems can be used all season and adding a heart or snowflake to the mix of cookie cutters…well… this could be an ongoing gift through the long winter months.

Enjoy making these and being creative of how you can add them to packages, place them throughout your home for wonderful scents, or simple ornament to decorate your tree.

ornament essential oils

Recipe:

1 cup of flour
1 cup of salt
1/2 cup warm water
Mix flour and salt together, add water slowly while mixing with your hands. Form a ball, make sure they are not too sticky.
Roll out dough onto floured surface and make your cut outs.
After you place cut outs onto your cookie tray, make a hole by using a straw. You can also stamp on the cut out to give a little Scandinavian look.
Bake at 250 degrees for 2-3 hours or leave out on a tray for 2 or so days.
After they dry, add a drop or 2 of essential oils to each one. We love using cinnamon, peppermint, clove, and orange. Either individually or combining a couple.
You can also paint them with acrylics to add a flash of color.

Be creative!

Oh my…if you have read through my blog, you know  I LOVE Calendula! This gorgeous flower is so easy to grow and not only looks beautiful in your garden but is awesome for DIY for body, teas, and cooking. The horses adore it! Calendula is one medicinal herb you will want to know more about.

To make this salve the infused oil takes three days to prep. Once it’s made it lasts for 2 years or more and you can make multiple salves and balms with it.

New Butter To Try
I discovered a wonderful salve recipe and wanted to share. What makes this salve wonderful is the mango butter. Instead of using shea butter, I decided to substitute shea for this as well as add these other ingredients I think you will find just as wonderful! This salve is just plain ol’ filled with substitutions…my middle name in cooking too! But ahhhh so good!

Ingredients Needed:

3 tbsp Calendula herbal infused oil (see recipe at bottom takes three days to infuse)

2 tbsp mango butter (substitute for shea butter)

1 tbsp + 1 tsp Carnauba wax (substitute for bees wax, more shinny look, takes longer to melt)

1 tbsp Kokum butter (substitute for cocoa butter…it is a flaky looking butter not to be mean)

¼ tsp Vit E. oil

9 drops Lavender essential oil

9 drops Roman Chamomile essential oil

4 drops Balsam of Peru (this is a VERY thick oil, like vanilla)

Jars that are fun…also any small jar work!

Labels

Directions:

1) In double boiler slowely melt down the Calendula oil, butters, and wax in the jar you will be storing it in.
2) Do not rush this or have high heat or it may scald oils. Stir with a wooden stick or tool until wax is melted.

3) Once ingredients  are fully melted, remove from heat and place on cooling pad. Wait 5 minutes or so and stir in Vit.E and essential oils.

4)  Let rest in room temperatur before using. It will get hard pretty quick. Don’t put lid on jar until fully cooled.

This should last about a year or 2.

How to make your infused oil

What you need: ( click on Bulk Herb Store to get these herbs, flowers)
3/4 cup Calendula Flowers
1/4 cup Rose Hips
1/4 cup Comfrey
1/4 cup Chamomile Flowers
1/4 cup Arnica
1/4 Yarrow
Coconut oil (0r any carrier oil of your choice)
Vit. E

How to make:

1. Fill glass jar 1/3 full of herbal mix and cover with coconut oil. Screw on lid and place jar on top of a dishtowel in a crock pot or Dutch oven.( we love cast iron)
2. Fill the crock pot with water (but not above the year’s lid) and turn on warm for three days or low simmer if using a stove.
3. Check the water level every day to make sure the water hasn’t evaporated and fill as needed. NVER pour cold water over a hot glass jar.
4. After 3 days, strain off herbs from the oil with cheese cloth( while warm) or strainer. Add you Vit. E

Label and keep in a dark place.

NEW PRODUCT! I am so excited for these 3 new products and I hope you are too!

The first one is my the hand foam soap. I think you will love this!

It smells wonderful and of course has the essential oil, Immune Strength to fight off all that icky bacteria roaming in your home. I keep one on my kitchen counter sink as well as the bathrooms. We also have one down at the ranch right by the pump!

This cleaner is a concentrate so you mix it with water in spray bottle to easily use on your counter tops or other cleaning surfaces. I also like to make it in a pail of water to wash floors and tubs. Super easy and wonderful smell! The citrus just makes the room so refreshing! It not only has the citrus essential oils but the Thyme, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary for the anti bacteria element is wonderful!

Try it!! I think you will love it too!

Lastly is …are you ready? TOOTHPASTE! I can’t tell you how ecstatic I am about this one! First, I have a hard time making my own. The other two products I can make easily with castle soap and essential oils, but this one, not so much. I do have a toothpaste with activated charcoal which is a wonderful ingredient to have in a toothpaste, but the texture is like mud and hard to use. I have to close my eyes and deal with it.

But now, RMO has a wonderful alternative that I am happy with! Great price, FREE shipping always for US…and really I like it when I don’t have to make it! LOVE LOVE!!!!

All these products will be available this Friday! So check in of course by clicking on the Rocky Mountain link in this blog helps us keep our ministry offering a free service for those in need!

Not only are these available at the end of this week, but I am GIVING AWAY ONE OF THE SOAPS, AND ONE OF THE HARD SURFACE CLEANERS.
If you want to be part of the drawing, just sign up to be on my email list and I would be happy to put your name in the drawing. This give away ends on January 24th!

Enjoy! Each of the products help your home and family stay healthy without any harsh chemicals!

God’s blessings,

Ranch Life, Thyme Out
I really don’t like writing grants. For the most part, they require SO much info I often am just overwhelmed with it all. But, in ministry it is one thing we have to continue to do or at least try.

Last year I was knee deep in dirt in my home. Not from not cleaning, but from filling little egg shells and growing pots full of seedlings. At the same time, I was writing a grant from our local Essential Health organization,   St. Joseph’s Foundation.  Planting, writing, planting, watering, horse chores, and more writing. In the process, I thought of the perfect project. An herb garden!

Hence not just for us, but for our horses. I have always wanted to create a place where the horses could graze freely with natural herbs. Herbs that I know they would each benefit from. Bokoda deals with allergies’ and now and than runny stools. Nugget will occasionally need something for a runny nose. Nugget is really healthy but  it’s always good to have things for him to choose.

Therefore I got busy planning out what herbs would be great for them. Again, knee deep in dirt, I started planting seedlings of  Yarrow, Meadowsweet, Calendula, Lavender, Valerian, and Marshmallow. I added Echinacea later and of course the herbs of parsley, thyme, basil, and oregano.

We also had many herbs natural to our environment.

In May, we got the grant! I was ecstatic! As a result, we now had the freedom to develop this new project which we named, “Thyme Out” Pasture and we could really see if it would help our animals health and ours.

Fancy that…it did! We began using the herbs in teas, tinctures, and syrups, plus all the salves for injuries and bug bites and we were OVERWHELMED at the results! Bokoda had NO coughing.

If Bokoda would show signs of runny nose or stools, I would give him his regimen of immune boost herb blend and he was showing wellness in just a couple of days. We replaced all treats to just herbs and apples, and home grown carrots, parsley, and thyme.

Some herbs were wild around the ranch.

It became such a wonderful teaching tool in our sessions. As they would help water, or weed we would talk about the herbs and how they help us in our illnesses. In the sessions at times they would bring a horse to the pasture and see for themselves what the horse was needing that day. How they would walk by some and devour others.

One day we had a group of guys from our local
Teen Challenge for a session. We had the guys in the round pen with the horses holding one or two jars of herbs. Each jar was labeled with the name of the herb and its properties.

If the horse came to them, they would share what the herb is and what it was good for. At the same time, everyone was learning and observing  if the horse would choose or would walk away and choose another.
It was fascinating for all of us!

Do you know what is really awesome about doing this project?

1) We were able to let families that came for sessions who were in need, pick herbs or veggies to bring home.
2) We could make many tinctures and salves using the herbs to help all year round, especially right now in the days of below zero temps and confinement to the indoors where germs grow.
3) Our vet bills were down
4) Our health is better as well no trips to the doctor. The herbs in teas has helped along with the essential oils.
5) We have gain a TON of knowledge and look forward to continuing our learning.
6) Our bunnies and horses enjoy the herbs all year round. How nice they can have fresh parsley, carrots, plus all those other herbs throughout the winter months.
7) We are able to enjoy veggies as well by a wonderful harvest and canning.
8) We have been able to share the teas and our love for this project to others hoping they too will start growing more herbs and begin to change their health habits to more natural living.

Most of all, we are thankful to  St Joseph’s Foundation for allowing us to try something new and giving us a chance to make a difference in our ranch as well as the community.

Amazing! I hope you will try it this Spring. Start now! Plant those seeds in your home and get them strong!

I did create on scratch paper a garden plan. Knowing where to plant certain seeds. This helps you get an idea what will grow well where.

Here is my favorite source for seeds: LOVE LOVE the flower collection. I say…begin planning NOW!

These organic herbal bath bubbles(aka bombs) you will make are not only your own creation, but will offer you healing as well . These bubbles are filled with fresh organic herbs to heal your body while you soak, and the aroma of the essential oils will just enhance this time for you to relax and unwind.

There is nothing more relaxing than knowing your soaking in all natural ingredients! More rewarding, is making them and giving them as a gift! This makes it extra special!

(If you want a visual click link on bottom of page)

Each bubble is unique to your own ideas. Add herbs to give color but also think about what the herb is offering in terms of healing. There are recipes out there for these, but they put food coloring in the recipe. I just couldn’t! It would be taking away what I want to implement in my lifestyle.

The same goes for any recipe I come upon. I will change it if it has ingredients that will not benefit. YES, at times I will add the ingredient, but for the most part, I really try and find a natural way to make what I creating better.

I hope you will find the bubbles fun. Here is the basic ingredients and below are other herbs and oils that will be wonderful for your spa bath.

First…you need to make yourself a cup of tea. I made my Christmas Delight tea so you can use the tea for color to your bubble later. As the herbs were steeping I took a bit of the strained herbs into a small cup so I could add to my bubbles.

Dry Ingredients:

1 Cup Baking Soda

1 Cup Arrow Root Powder

1 Cup Citric Acid ( I used a pestle and mortar)

1 Cup Dead Sea Salt (optional I used in one batch and omitted in another this is the part that causes the fun bubbles but can get messy…careful)
**Omit salt if you are using these in a hot tub.

Mica for sparkle

Plastic clear Christmas balls ( I had one large one and one small for left over at end to make one colorful bubble)

Time To Make:

Mix together in a steel or glass bowl. It can be fussy when not mixed well. Use a whip as well to make sure to get all the clumps out. You want a nice smooth mixture. Feels like sand!

Now pour into your dry ingredient bowl

  • 1 Cup of Organic Coconut Oil Melted

Mix with your hands.
Now add your color using the herb of your choice. The Beet Root makes wonderful pinks and reds.

Next add the Mica color for the sparkle if you want that.

You will want to add just enough of the above about ½ cup of your base into a separate bowls if you want different colors and oils for each bubble. So the next 2 steps you continue using only a little of your base.

  • 4-6 drops of Essential Oil of your choice (I use only Blends as it adds so much aroma to the spa)
  • Herbs (suggestions below) for color 1/2 tsp or more for darker (start small and add to your liking)

Now…use your hands to mix. If it doesn’t bind in your hand than add just an eyedropper of water until it will clump.

Put your colored nice smelling mixture into one half of your ball bubble. Press firm filling it well.

If you want a different color for the other half, than get some of your base, about ½ cup and mix in your herb for color. You won’t need any more essential oil so you may need your dropper of water for this part especially since you added drier ingredient with your herb.

Continue to mix and clump and fill your other half. Both half balls should be chuck full of mixture and now put them together forming your bubble. Carefully pull one half off, flip into your palm, and take off the other half. Lay on tray and let dry for 10-20 minutes.

Now you got beautiful bubbles to add to your bath or give as gifts!

Let dry on tray for 24 hours. Wrap in saran wrap and keep in cool place. If they fall apart just squish a little together back into ball. Mine did a little bit and cracked but went back in to patch up.

A perfect bubble ball filled with goodness and, gives you a wonderful spa experience.

Do you want to save yourself money in the long run by making it yourself and of course using natural ingredients in the process? Well…here ya go!

Around the ranch I have gotten bitten by more animals, insects, and yes Stinging Nettles while harvesting them, that I need to grab my salves to save the day.

Food, Healthy Eating, Living Naturally, Ranch Life

Dan and I made this fabulous chicken dinner last night! It was so easy! It just fell apart and amazingly  moist. Just plan and simple to prepare yet bursting with flavors.

We love taking time to cook together and I learn so much when I cook with Dan. He doesn’t even use measuring tools which makes me crazy, but he is good at this cookin’ thing.

When we decided to do this recipe we were in the mood for orange. I don’t know what the deal was, but we just wanted to have something with this flavor, so Dan created this dish.

Using essential oils in cooking is just an added bonus to your cooking but you MUST not use much. It is just really over powering if you do.

The Organic orange oil we used in this recipe we get at a local vinegar and oil place but if you don’t have that you can use olive oil and put a DROP of  the NEW Organic orange essential oil into the dish.

I am a substitute queen so I know what its like to go to cook a recipe and you don’t have all the ingredients. Make up some of your own ideas and favorite flavors and post them in the comments. I love that!

I hope you will find this dish just as enjoyable as we did! We can’t wait to share it in an up coming dinner party. So fun to explore using essential oils and herbs in cooking!

Ingredients:

4 Chicken Breast or thighs (if you like dark meat like me)

2 TBSP of Orange Oil (you can use orange essential oil here read above only use a drop)

Dash of Sea Salt

Ground pepper to taste

½ onion quartered

1 orange squeeze juice

1 drop of  Rosemary essential oil

Pour enough water until just before covering your chicken choice

Place all ingredients in your cast iron pan, cover and simmer for 2 hours.

While your chicken is cooking you can prepare your sauce about ½ hour before it is done.

Ingredients for Sauce:

4 TBSP of butter

2 TBSP of powdered mustard

4 TBSP of Organic Honey

3-4 TBSP of apricot jam (I added more just for more tang taste)

4 TBSP of Grand Marnier

Fresh Rosemary sprig for garnish

Directions for Sauce:

Melt the butter, mustard, honey, and jam until bubbly. Take off heat and add your Grand Marnier. With your wire whip mix it in. You can now keep it warm on the burner.

Finishing the dish:

Check your chicken using a meat thermometer for doneness.

Take your chicken out of the pan and pour off any fat.

Place chicken back into the pan and add ½ of your sauce.

Let simmer for 10-15 min. Prepare your rice or veggie.

Plate your chicken putting some sauce on plate.

Make a mound of your rice.

Now place your chicken on top of rice finishing pouring the remainder sauce over the chicken.

Your mouth will be filled with bursting flavors!

Let me know what you think if you tried this…always love to hear your thoughts!

Side Note: If you are not comfortable using the liquor in this recipe I totally understand. We are the same way. But truly without this part it won’t quite be the same taste, but you can do without. We tried it and found it really needs to have that burst of flavor. The alcohol is cooked off as well if that helps.

Oh my we loved this meal! Served on a bed of brown rice was just Devine!
Hope you love it too! Comment please if you tried it.

God’s blessings to you all!
Love deeper, and talk sweeter,
Lee

Living in Minnesota this time of year can be brutal on our skin. With this wonderful homemade lip gloss recipe using only natural ingredients, will help your lips be protected from harsh conditions.  PLUS, it is all natural using fresh herbs even in the color and luster shine! Can you believe how herbs give color?
SO FUN TOO!

Here is what you will need:

1/4 Cup of Infused Oil (recipe below)
3 tablespoons of shea butter
4 tablespoons of Beeswax
2 teaspoons cocoa powder (optional)
2 teaspoons of Honey
15 drops of your favorite essential oils (peppermint, orange, grapefruit, tangerine)
1/4 teaspoons Vitmin E Oil
Stardust Mica

Beet Root (adds the color, you will add 1/8 tsp at a time to your color desire)

Directions:
1.) Mix first 5 ingredients together and heat in double boiler until hot and melted.
2.) After its melted, add essential oil and cocoa powder or Beet Root.
3.) Next add your Vitamin E oil and your Mica color. I use Red…I only use about 1/8 tsp but you can add more if you really like BLING!
4.) Pour into your lip gloss containers. If you want to use different colors you can pour the mixture into different cups, but work fast as it does set. You may have to reheat to get to liquid form to pour easily.
I didn’t do this and the balm got lumpy and not smooth.
*** peppermint oil and the coca powder make great gifts for anyone on your list

Infused Oil ( all organic herbs are from Bulk Herb Store, if you can not fine them or out of stock I go to Mountain Herb)

Rose Petals
Lavender Buds
Calendula Flowers
Lemon Balm
Cloves
Beet Root ( want this for your color too)
Hibiscus ( this is an EVERYTHING herb for your tea blending)
Comfrey
coconut oil

How to make:
1. Fill a glass jar 1/3 full with equal parts of each herb. Cover herbs in coconut oil, melted. Place lid on jar.
2. Set jar on top of towel in a crockpot filled with water, on warm setting for 3 days. Watch water level and be very careful not to put cool water on a hot jar, as it could explode.
3. On the third day, remove the jar from heat, let cool, and strain your herbs. Squeeze well to get every nutrient from your herbs. Now you have and Herbal Infused Oil! Label and put in dark place.

So much fun making these for me and my loved ones!
Hope you find it just as enjoyable!
God’s blessings,

Healing, Health, Living Naturally

A year ago you could find in my search engine what do I do for…? What do I use for…you name the illness or problem I googled it.

Over and over the same things were popping up and of course more information about healthy eating and supplements were becoming a common name. There has to be something to this I thought. Our family had already implemented the supplements with Plexus and found great results, but now and than the cold or flu bug would hit us.

I found the key for me was getting to the ROOT of the issue AS SOON AS the little bug would creep in. First sneeze. First scratchy throat. First…you name it…get on top of it! Using the remedies of natural herbs for teas and tinctures and the essence of using essential oils. SO key!

Through many trial and errors last year I made a commitment to do two things.
ONE: Use only natural cleaning supplies that I make with baking soda, vinegar, Borax, and Rocky Mountain Essential Oils.( RMO)

TWO: I stopped buying boxed items, processed type foods,(doing the best we can with occasional frozen pizza) put all powders and the like into mason jars keeping storage fresh, and making my own herbal teas and tinctures to keep our bodies fighting the bugs. We also began taking daily supplements, one being most important, PROBIOTICS! I love either RMO or Plexus.

With these two things implemented in our lives, it has made a world of difference. Putting tinctures that are specifically labeled, for cough, cold, nerve pain, sore throat, and tummy issues into our tea has REALLY been a game changer.

**Now, I can’t claim these remedies will work for you as I am no doctor, but as a wife and mom, just trying them has worked for us. I hope it will for you too!

It took a whole day for me to make these, but it was awesome to have them ready to go when I needed them. In the fall, I do it again having a fresh supply.

Especially ones I know we will go through…like Elderberry Syrup!  HAVE to have that on hand!

All tincture recipes you can find on Bulk Herb Store.  I will put below my favorites and must haves.

If you are unsure about any of the products, or think I am crazy, well, our family is healthier than ever and our animals as well.
We give the horses their daily immune strength mixture of herbs and our bunnies too. If my dog has diarrhea I again will apply natural teas to his food. It works! Of course, nature is God’s idea and of course healing so DAH…why wouldn’t it work?

Here are my favs to have on hand:

Cough:
Calendula Tincture 2-3 drops into your HOT tea
I put the drops into my cup so when I pour my hot water over my tea blend it mixes up.
Honey is on the bottom too.

Headaches/Aches and Pains:
Chamomile: Helps ease menstrual cramps, improve sleep, relieves headache and soothe frayed nerves.
1/2 to 1 cup of Chamomile flowers follow directions below… (I also add White Willow Bark, helps headaches) Mix the herbs before putting in jar.

Tummy and Digestion:
1/2 dried peppermint leaves
1/4 cup dried ginger root (LOVE this stuff have it in most of my tea blends)
1/4 cup fennel seeds

Make your tincture by filling a jar 1/3-1/2 full of herbs.
Use 1/3 for hard herbs and roots (they absorb more) and 1/2 for soft and fluffy herbs. Fill jar to the top with alcohol (80-90 proof Vodka is best), close it and store for 3-8 weeks in a Coll, dry pale. Shake jar daily. After the weeks, strain and discard the herb, bottle the liquid and label it.
The alcohol is evaporated b the hot water so pregnant moms can use it too. Vinegar can be used as well, but it does not draw out the herb’s properties as well. This recipe is on the Bulk Herb Store site.

NEXT have your tea blends all ready to go in jars. Prepare now, so when the bug hits, you got your remedy ready to go!

Sniffle Tea:
1 Cup Thyme
1/4 Cup Ginger Root
1/2 Cup Echinacea
1/3 Cup  Spearmint
1/3 Cup Rose Hibs (must have great on hand herb)
1/3 Cup Orange Peel
Mix and place in your favorite mason jar!

Headache Tea:
1 Cup of White Willow Bark
1 Cup of Echinacea Purpurea
1/2 Cup Raspberry Leaf
1/2 Cup Hibiscus
1/3 Cup Peppermint
1/3 Cup Orange Peel or Lemon
Mix and place in your jar!
For how to make tea, check out the Art of Making Tea on my blog!

Any of these herbs blended you will find will help. I recommend preparing your tea and drinking it throughout the day. For our family it truly has been a wonderful way to heal!

Use RMO Essential Oils to place on your neck and forehead or diffuse:

Immune Strength
Peppermint
Clove (MUST HAVE)
Ginger
Eucalyptus (Must HAVE) steam one drop in boiling water and inhale…sinus and colds symptoms have totally went away for me.

Here is another link for you to get some wonderful tips on using essential oils!

SPECIAL NOTE:
Like with all organic herbs and essential oils you need to take precautions for your own knowledge. We recommend you consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before using herbal products especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications. To be healthy takes being wise with your own health needs.

I hope these ideas help you and your family be on the way to a healthier way of life!

Health, Living Naturally, Ranch Life

First of all, there are many essential oils out there that are good. There are many that are not. I am not an expert on this area, but found resources that were VERY helpful.
Here is one of my favorite resources on essential oils and herbs:

A closer look as explained in this blog and video testing is remarkable!
http://www.essentialoiltesting.com/blog/protective-blends

I also had gone on a blog with a stay at home mom who had also done a ton of research on the subject.

I don’t have any issues with MLM’s as I was in 2 of them one for over 15 years and another for 5 years. It really came down to two very important things to me:

ONE: They provide listen to this…90DAYS of guarantee Listen to this…EVEN OPEN USED! I don’t know of one company that does that! They say guarantee but only 30 or 60 days AND it has to be unopened. Well…kinda dah there. If you try it, and use it, it will be open!

So this was a big deal! LOVE that!

SECOND: They are less expensive than most companies and they are always running specials. PLUS listen again…FREE SHIPPING IN U.S.!!!! WOW! That is just another whipping cream on the cake!

I really believe in the company and it’s quality as well!

Lastly, how they give to people like us, bloggers. They provide a % that is higher than most affiliate programs. They offer help in all areas of getting us the right information to better help you and again I so appreciate that. We love to advertise for them because they are an amazing company!

**When you purchase from us on this site, all proceeds go to our ranch to help others in need.

I think you will find this product well worth your experience in the essential oil way of life! We have and of course have had a much healthier way of life!

Here is our HORSE KIT:

Having a diffuser is also wonderful if you have a barn you in a lot. Our tack shack has one and we love it! It also is a place for crafts for kids so it adds a wonderful atmosphere of relaxation.

There are many more we have but his is a good start if you are considering trying essential oils for wellness and care. It has been an amazing journey to use oils instead of traditional medicine. We are thankful for what the Lord has provided!

I suggest getting some of the empty amber bottles from them as well so you can blend your own. We make up a bug/tick one we put on the horses before a ride. We also have the roll on so we can put it on ourselves quickly and keep it in our trail pack. I love these. We do have a wooden box we got from HERE

But RMO provides soft ones that are great for the ranch too! We use the wooden ones so we can decorate them as a craft as you can see in the picture above. All are wonderful!

Essential Oils for around the home:

Eucalyptus

Peppermint

Citrus Passion

Lavender

Aligning

Frankincense

Lemongrass

Lemon

Immune Strength (MUST HAVE) use in most of my DIY cleaners with baking soda

Purify (use in many DIY)

Nutmeg (love for diffusing)

Black Pepper

Pain Ease (amazing after a long day)

Relieve Me (so helps in many illness, breathing, and joints too)

White Grapefruit

Again these are just ones we use all the time, some everyday! If you suffer from congestion or sinus the peppermint and eucalyptus are really a must have! I put them in steam water and breath in with a towel over my head and it takes the pressure away RIGHT AWAY! Great for any cold that is coming on!

So amazing!

Great if you feel a cold coming on as well!

I love this company and I love their product quality. A very simple and easy choice for our family and hope you find the same results!

God bless you,

Health, Ranch Life, Thyme Out
I went to do some harvesting today and found those little brown bugs on my herbs!
So I googled away some ideas and this one so far has been the best one.

I will keep you posted if it truly works! I also added some Peppermint essential oil into the “tea” to board off deer as well.

Remember to keep it natural to protect you, your animals, and the environment. NO harsh chemicals are used on our ranch!

The picture below is Mullein another wonderful herb. The flower, leaves, and root have all been used for inflammation including diarrhea, cough, and asthma. It is also wonderful for helping with bruising, burns, and gout. It can be ingested, applied topically, and even smoked! I like making it into a tea as well as a tincture.

Strong smelling plants, herbs and spices deter insects and other pests.

  • Tea Spray for Bugs:
  •
  • Mix together plants like garlic, rhubarb, mint, onions, cayenne, and ginger.
  •
  • Cut them up into large pieces and place them in a pot or saucepan.

  • Cover them with water and boil.
  •
  • Turn off the heat and allow the “tea” to sit overnight.
  •
  • Strain the liquid away and pour it into an amber spray bottle.
  • (I added about 1/4 cup of Castile soap to make it stick)
  • Add about 15 of so drops of Peppermint essential oil to your spray.
  •
  • Create a caffeine mixture, if you are having a problem with aphids.(brown bugs)
  •
  • Mix 1 cup (240 ml) of yarrow, lavender and/or catnip with 2 tbs. (10 g) of used coffee grounds and 2 cups (473 ml) of water. Allow the mixture to sit overnight.
  •
  •

  • Strain the liquid and pour into a spray bottle. Only keeps for a week or two.
  •
  • What is really awesome is the Yarrow and Lavender I can get right out of my herb garden! I just love that I have grown the herb myself! Yarrow grows all over our ranch naturally, so we have an abundant amount to use. That was of course before I knew what yarrow was.
  •

Yarrow is an amazing herb! I had a student who was working with Bokoda our horse, and he cut his nose. I asked her if she remembered what herb would help his wound. She instantly remembered YARROW! She ran to the garden and picked the top flower and gently placed it on his bleeding nose. She held it there talking so sweet to him and soon the bleeding stopped. She was so excited and so was I as teaching how herbs can heal as the Lord intended. Read more here you will be amazed too so start picking and drying your herb for tea, soups, salads, and even nice herbal oil to pour over salads.

Empower, Hope, Overcome
I had a session today with a young teen. It wasn’t as joyful as I thought it would be as her story was filled with pain and no hope.  Pain that many of us would rather not see and if you could hear her story would bring you to tears. The pain of sex trafficking. This teen had been trafficked for over 3 years. She is 17 now. Marked for life. Memories that will not be easily erased.

During our session she was struggling with fear. Fear of what she will become now?
Will the pimp come after her? Will she ever have a “normal” day… EVER?

As she played with the horse each fear came upon her. This huge horse was like all her fears in one big body. Yet…she could move the horse. She could back him up. She could move parts of his body with only a look. She could even have him dance around her and with a simple bend of her knee, he would swoop his neck around and trot right into her! She was overwhelmed with a moment of feeling like she was in control and this new friend with 4 legs wanted to be her partner in a loving, respectful way.

For the first time she experienced a healthy relationship based on trust and love!
Tears began to flow. Tears not of sadness but of hope. HOPE that life CAN be different.

We ended the session with her taking some essential oils that we love from Rocky Mountain Oil
She would go through the oils and place them on the horses back and feet. She would use different oils she liked. I decided to let her choose an oil, offer the horse to sniff it, and if he liked it to rub it wherever she wanted. She chose his back and his feet.  She choose Peppermint, Lavender, Aligning (which is a wonderful blend great for alignment) and I asked her why those places and she responded, “because he carried me through and I think this will help him feel better.”

I gave her an empty bottle and told her to pick 3 of her favorite oils and put a few drops in the bottle. This bottle would be what she could use whenever she needed to feel like she needed to be “carried” again.

Each drop represents tears. Tears are ok. I went on to tell her how our Jesus holds our tears in a bottle. I put her oil in this little silk pouch with the verse, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in a bottle.” Psalm 56:8 NLT. I also like these pouches as well.

She walked down our long driveway with a bottle of HOPE which will empower her to overcome her past and begin a new life.

Health, Living Naturally
During the summer months we face many bugs! I get stung at least once if not more. Mosquitos are our state bird, and of course the spider bits are no fun. So I found this ointment to be absolutely, hands down the best thing to put on those nasty bites!

It is a bit messy as it is made from activated charcoal which is black. But if you put a bandage over it for a bit, it won’t get on your clothes. It washes off easily too.

When I got stung, I literally applied this on immediately and the pain was gone, no swelling, and I was back to chores. Great for kids and pets too! I even put it on our horses for those nasty horse fly bits that swell!

Here ya go…make a jar or two and keep in areas you can easily get to! If you order from the links, you are helping our ranch reach kids in need! Thank you! www.truenorthranch.org

 Bug bites, bee sting salve
6 tbsp of infused oil (I use Calendula see infusion directions below)
2 tsp almond oil
2 tsp bees wax
3 tsp activated charcoal
3 tsp bentonite clay
20-30 drops Lavender essential oil
10 drops of tea tree essential oil
Bug bites, Bee stings

Combine the olive oil, castor oil, and beeswax in a container and place in a pot of simmering water (like a double boiler). It is recommended that you use a container that you don’t mind getting stained, as the charcoal has a tendency to stain. Once the waxes and oils are combined, add the charcoal and clay and mix until combined. Mix in the essential oil and then transfer to a glass jar for storage. This recipe makes enough to fill a one ounce mason jar. Store the salve in a cool dark place.

To use the salve, just put a small amount on the affected area. Cover with a bandage (to help avoid staining your clothes and other things) and leave on for up to 12 hours. The wash off with soap and water.

You can wash off as soon as the pain subsides.
I have used this for poison ivy as well. It works. The important part is reapplying if itchiness still exists.

INFUSED Oils

1. Pick 3 herbs you would like to make for your infusion. For this drawing out salve I use Calendula, Comfrey, and Lemon Balm all from my garden or you can click on link to Starwest Botanicals
2. Use a clean quart mason jar. Mix your dried herbs in a steel bowl and place into your jar. Fill your jar with Jojoba oil or Organic Olive oil. Fill jar leaving 1/2 ” of space at the top of the jar so the herbs will hav room to expand. Stir your herbs with a wooden spoon. If the herbs soak up all the oil, then pour more on top to ensure that the herbs are covered. Once all stirred and ready to cap tightly.
3. Leave in your dark pantry for 4-6 weeks giving it a daily shake.
4. When weeks are done, strain your infused herbs into a clean glass amber bottle. Make sure you get all the juices out as you want every bit of the oil. I add a drop of Vitamin E Oil to the mixture to give it a longer shelf life.

Hope you try it! Let me know if it worked for you!
God bless and enjoy the summer and it’s bugs!
