How to Help A Horse With An Abscess

How to Help A Horse With An Abscess and Being Prepared Ahead of Time Will Put Your Mind at Ease

This last year one of our horse’s Bokoda had come up limping and it looked like he got kicked or pulled his shoulder. Each time he was dropping his shoulder. I never thought it was an abscess even though I checked his hooves each time. It’s always where I begin when they get injured and don’t know the cause.

Our farrier came out and told me it was an abscess already starting to heal. I could NOT see it at all. I really need to learn more on what they look like. The one he had before I could see clearly like a bubble but this time I missed it.

I would encourage you to look it up too. So you can compare. Also call your farrier. Mine doesn’t have an updated cell phone to get pictures but most do so you can take a picture and confirm with them. Once you know, now for the care and healing process. Here is the way we did it again, youtube is great for this.

Things you will need:

Bentonite Clay

5 drops Arnica essential oil (wonderful oil to have in your farm kit)

5 drops Rosemary Essential oil

5 drops Lavender Essential oil

8 drops Copaiba Essential oil (another awesome oil for healing)

baby diaper or bed pads

duc tape

vet wrap

The video is not the greatest but we had to get to work on this and believe it or not just 3 days later our son was called to receive a liver which we have been waiting for over a year! The adventure is here…incredible timing the Lord helped our horse before we would be gone for 2 months! Only our Lord knew all the details! God is good!

So thankful I will recognize his limp as this happened this year THREE times! WOW! Anyway…hope this helps you all in the horse world!

Love deeper, talk sweeter,

Lee
