Herbal Blends for Your Horse
Herbal Blends For Your Horse Could Be Key To Their Overall Health And Wellness
We take pride in how the Lord leads us in taking care of our boys and all the animals around the ranch! Our specialty is making herbal blends to give them when things arise and or just in daily care. We never feed our horses treats bought in a store as they are loaded with sugar. Just like you and me, we have to watch the intake of ingredients that don’t help our bodies especially in times when the body is under stress.
In the wild horses will find herbs their bodies need. We developed a unique “Thyme Out” pasture for the horses to munch on and if they need a particular herb they will choose it. We find this area used often in our ministry as kids enjoy seeing the horses choose and graze naturally and learn about the way the Lord takes care of HIS children and animals!
Here are a few blends we have found helpful for our horse’s needs. We also have bunnies that too get herbs. Papaya Leaf has been a Godsend when their tummies are bound up. We almost lost both of them but once we gave them their herbs and baby tummy drops they turned around.
Unless the herb is grown in our area, we purchase our herbs from Starwest Bonticals a company we have trusted for over 6 years. They have 100% quality on all their products and we love their organic values and is what they are best known for. PLUS… every time you order from them with the link on the sidebar, our ministry gets a percentage. SO how cool is that?
When you blend, mix with a measuring cup but really you don’t need to worry about accuracy. The first ingredient is your most then measurements go down as you proceed. So if you start with 3 cups with the first ingredient you go to 2 1/2 for the next and so on. For powders, I am conservative with using 1/4 cup or less. Same with roots depending on where they fall in the ingredient list. If I can get or buy leaves over roots or powders I will go that route.
I put all blends in a bucket and mix, then place them in bags that I get from Starwest when I get the herbs. Their bags seal well and I mark the name of the blend on the outside. Great way to reuse them too plus they protect the herbs. Lastly, I will make up Remedy Kits with the blends ready to go like the cough, allergy, and tick blends.
