Make a gift be special by just adding a bow and tag to give the receiver an extra…WOW! You don’t need any fancy gift wrap. It’s all in the presentation which will make their day!

Using fancy gift wrap is not only expensive, but to me they are pretty gaudy. The images take away the awe. I prefer simple with a country feel.

Have you ever seen old westerns or if your a heartie, When Call the Heart and the general store keeper wraps up the package with brown paper and twine? Well…that’s my kind of package! SO pretty and simple!

Simple and sweet!

If You Own A Cricut…

If you own a Cricut Maker , you have the perfect fast and easy way to decorate your gifts! Adding a personal tag, a card with your own font choices will bring a special touch and of course the bows and twine to tie it all together. The ideas are endless! I absolutely love the Cherry on Top company, free shipping on orders over $49 (easy) and the selection is awesome. You can also buy some Cricut items too from them. The mason jar fronts I got off of Design Space (which to me is a must if your a Cricut owner) and their placed on a easy open box.

The ideas are endless!

For all occasions!

Oh boy! When I discovered the 3D tag idea I went nuts! For one thing they are adorable on gifts but when you can make cards with them and other decor well…this just got me getting into the creative mode! Gnomes are my fav!

Yep Gnome Crazy!

Because we are a ranch…the animal package I chose was farm. 3 D Character Farm Bundle. Great deal! The pick up truck is cute…but would not recommend. Unless your cutting tool is brand new this project didn’t turn out well. But it is cute for sure! Christmas gnomes are flooding this site. Choose away!

I made another gnome for fall packaging which I like to use my left over vinyl for the package to cover up other advertising. As you can tell, I like to package with just what I have around the house and not buy bags and wrapping paper. Keeping it simple and sweet. Scarecrow Gnome fun name tag for the holiday dinner table!

Snow Globe Delight

Using small boxes is such a fun way to give my chocolate bombs as a gift but I wanted to add something extra to the front. SO…I grabbed this idea! Again simple and fun and with vinyl or background paper I can add a little touch here and there to put it all together. This grouping was easy to weed as well.

A Box of Love; DIY Kit anyone can make!

Recently when our son was going through his liver transplant, I wanted to be able to give goodies to folks who were prayer warriors, nursing staff, doctors, and even our hotel check-in staff. I just wanted to show them how much we appreciated all they did during our time with Mitch being sick.

We are often in the cities for Mitch with procedures and appointments and right now I am sitting in the hotel room putting the final touches on the things I have made. All weekend knowing we would be traveling down I got busy making up Heart Hot Chocolate Bombs and cute boxes to put them in. Along with some teas in a tube. There is nothing more fun than giving a gift of love wrapped up in love!

Here’s the first one I made:

2 hearts were so cute

In the next box, I added more with the Cricut Maker. I tell you this machine has added to my crafting tenfold of fun! Not only can I get the cut out in the middle, use the extra hearts for other cards and projects, but also do words, borders, and even make tags. Having the Cricut access is really an inexpensive way to get SO much for your money and the ideas….whoa… The fonts alone are worth it!

So fun and cute!

How to make a box

For the base of the box: to fit 2 heart hot chocolate bombs or 4 1/4 x 5 1/5 cards

Card-stock cut 10″ x 8 1/2″ then score 2″ on all 4 sides. I use my cutter to cut than a scoring tool all in one sweet device! Next cut on score lines on each intersecting score-line. Fold in and using double-stick tape to secure corners well. Regular glue and mono adhesives are not strong enough.

For the lid:

I used a different color for my lids and as you can see also using background paper can add a fun eye-catching box.

6 5/8″ x 8 1/8″ score at 1″ on all four sides. Cut on the score lines up to intersecting lines on each corner. Fold in, tape and seal. I used acetate for the window.

Now the fun part…decorating! If you’re using a Cricut Maker I went into the Design Space and chose my images. Measure the size area of your box top and create your image in the design space to fit the size in the middle of your box. When you go to MAKE IT, fit your image on your standard grip mat to the area where your box will be. I measured using a ruler the size of the image and measured my cardstock box. I used patterned vinyl. To make my tags I used these fun adapters using my gel pens for words. I LOVE this idea so I can use markers, ballpoint pens, and sharpies to create any saying!

Here’s another idea:

Couldn’t help it…made another:

So you can see these can be a ton of fun! Filling them with cards for the person to use or with treats…all in love!

Have fun creating your own ideas! Share them too!

COMMENTS: Love to hear share away…

Birthday Card with Cricut Maker Using Writing Tools

For the first time, I used the writing pen in my Cricut Maker. Being nervous about using this new tool I youtube a great video which helped a ton! Also…I practiced on scrap paper that I could potentially use in other cards. My hubby told me these are really expensive through Cricut so I wanted to be conservative plus they wear down quickly. But while looking for the video on “how to” use the pen, I came across these amazing pen adapters! Take any pen and boom…save money and pen away! Loved this idea!

Side note…anytime you purchase from links it helps us help others in our ministry…www.truenorthranch.org…thank you!

How to Use Pens

I love going onto Defont.com and creating some of my favorite fonts and saving them into my Design Space…ideas are endless!

How to use other pens:

Using the pen adapters it’s awesome!

Some tips:

When I make my cards I love to combine my rubber stamps and what is really cool if I don’t have the stamp especially in sayings I can pop in a pen of my choice and make it all work beautifully. Check out Stamp Market’s cardstock really awesome! The Vinyl I use is from Expressions vinyl and I love the Oracle 651 and Easyweeds the best. Their heat transfers are also amazing. Go crazy they are an inexpensive and wonderful product and customer service. Below is how I store my vinyl.

Yes I make a lot of cards for our ranch ministry, so I turned half of the card rack into vinyl storage.
LOVE LOVE the pen adapters! GAME changer!

I enjoyed making these TAGS as well for gift boxes. Just another dooo dad to add in your gift making ideas.

Well, I hope you find this post helpful not only to save you money on using the pen adapter but for using the concept of expanding all your written ideas. Card making is just one way I use pens, but I know I will find other projects and get creative with them. ENJOY!!!

Why even have a word?

For many people having a special word to fit a moment or year in time is meaningless. Yep, I would have to agree if you really don’t care about achieving a goal of a purpose beyond yourself. When I first heard about this, I loved the idea. It created a spark in me! My first word or words, Choosing Joy. Two words I know, but at that time it is what I seek more of in my life and to have this word going into a new year helped me focus and be more intentional about seeking joy. Even in hard times. To find joy in situations, people, planning. Having a special word kept me grounded when joy was not present.

What to do with your word

I began taking my word and using it as my morning prayer and looking up passages in the bible around the word. I would then journal and or meditate about what I had just studied. One year I chose PATHWAYS. Another year, REST. It was such a joy to search through scripture and hear and see how the Lord was moving in me to make changes. Repent. Pray. Pray for others. Simply, just embracing and practicing what the Lord is sharing. I am a creative person. I love getting my inks, glitter, stickers, you name it and of course applying the word in some kind of art form. Sometimes these words would show up in my card making.

Given to friend in need
Gift giving (using the Cricut)
Bath Bombs with a message of REST one of my favorite words

This is what inspired this post

I just LOVED this idea!

I belong to a bible illustrated group on Facebook and one gal, Danielle Lariscy, shared what she does with her word of the year. I fell in LOVE with this idea on so many levels! For one, you can remember all the words the Lord inspired you. Year after year reflecting and reading the prayers and praises. Second, you can make it big enough to write a special message of the “WHY” behind your word of the year or whatever you want to write on it. Again, years later being able to relook at what the Lord taught you. I think this will be a fun project for me to do on my days of REST to go back to my words and make these for my bible. I have at least 5 to do…So better get wording!

Get creative!

No, you don’t have to follow the idea. And NO I don’t believe it is a trend. I believe this will be in my life for as long as the Lord has something to remind me about, work in me, or inspire me in ways only HE can! If anything, it does help one stay focused if you struggle in areas of finding joy, rest, peace, prayer, or need to know you are loved. A word…speaks and is powerful! So, what’s your word this year?

First attempt…need some practice…BUT found the Cricut is much cleaner look below!
There is HOPE!!!!
I purchased my Cricut Maker here…Plus it helps our ranch ministry! BEST investment in my crafting and it’s on sale! SCORE!
I love this word as well as the paper! So fun!
A great word to have POP up in your bible…good reminder!

God’s blessing to you! Walking in HIS word, one can always find HIS peace.

Horse’s and girls…

During our Midwest Bounty event, we had some down time and one of the ranches brought a box of cards one of their supporters made. I went absolutely NUTS when I saw these cards! Not just because of the horses and little girls but because the words are perfect for what we do in ranch ministry! Oh I just love them! Here are a few I made.

I love using wood slivers my husband keeps for me from projects.

Watercolor, Chalks, Blending Pens

The sets are expensive and they are for acrylic blocks. They don’t have the image for you to see and can be a little frustrating especially for the words. But the words really make these interchangeable.

Here is the Link for the company. Happy shopping and fun playing with this great group of stamps!
For a simple video on watercolor even in your bible look below.

Gotta love being creative and best part…GIVING THEM TO SOMEONE IN NEED!

Tea is sure my thing

There is no doubt I love tea! I love making my own blends to preparing specific teas for illness and building immune systems. I love anything tea!

Tea cups, tea blends, herbs, and yes even making tea cup cards!

Comment below get free pattern

If you make a comment below and want the pattern, I can email it to you. Of course, free of charge! We are all about that around our ranch ministry. When you click and purchase from any link, you are helping us reach kids in need of hope and healing!

What you will need

Pattern background paper preferably prints on both sides. Here are my favorites for this project.
Anna Griffin Collection
Bo Bunny
Doodlebug Collection (love this one for lots of stamping and gift ideas)
Tag Die Cut (use your background paper to match)
Washi Tape
Washi Tape (for planners too)
Bling of course!

Add the tag either tape or let hang while wrapping around handle.

Great Greetings

Now you have an adorable card to give to a loved one or attach to a gift. I make up a tea blend and put inside a little bag.
I also will add a verse to the tag for extra encouragement.

A side note if you are making your own blends, put the herbs on the tag or somewhere on your card. This will help your receiver know what’s in it just in case they can not have a certain herb.

Enjoy making your little tea cup greetings! They are adorable!

Crafts, Paper/Cards
Don’t you just love receiving a homemade thank you card? Especially one you didn’t expect to receive?  I DO! BUT most of all…I love making them! This last week I had to get on the horn and make some long overdue thank you cards and of course, I have to make it a little country, a little ranch like, and touches of the season. These cards are using mostly background papers that I find online HERE There are so many background papers to choose from you can really go crazy! I do like to buy them in big bulk packages as they provide more for my money. Plus, the variety in that one pack is huge and sparks some creativity! So…here is the scoop on how I put these together: I made up a template for the jean pocket and used my favorite vintage card stock for the tags. I made my own tags but you can also purchase them already done too. Of course, enjoying the ranch life we have to have cowboy type background paper. Using inks from Stamping’ Up! and thank you stamps, I added distressing color to the outside of the card and directly on the card. This gives the old-time look. (when you purchase from SU! you really get the BEST of inks and card stock, my personal preference) The ink I used was More Mustard. Finally, I give the card an overall look by stitching around the edges from my sewing machine. I didn’t do this to all of them, but looking at it, I like it better. It added a ton to the overall look. Hope you find making special thank you cards to your loved ones and friends, brings them joy as well as knowing how much you care for them. Making homemade cards is truly a great gift you can give to anyone! Spark someone you love today with a homemade thank you card! Enjoy! Love deeper, talk sweeter, Lee

Ministry, Paper/Cards
Ever feel just overwhelmed with gratitude?  Try making something special by hand to give to someone who you want to express thankfulness! I sure have this month as I have been making up some of the cards to send out to the supporters that give to our ministry on a monthly bases. We are always grateful for people who have come along and shouldered with us. We love to hand stamp as many as we can.  In a pinch, I will make up some photo shot cards for the kids that come to the ranch to use as a demo card. It helps them to get an idea of how to use sets and gadgets. There is nothing more meaningful than to make a hand stamped card. I used Stampin’ Up’s new set from the fall last year, 2016, and the Paisley Framelits Dies. (on sale too) LOVE those things! Just stamp and put the platelet over the stamped image, roll in my BIG SHOT and whoa…quick and perfect images without the hassle of cutting them out by hand! The background pine cones are from the folder emboss the image and using the simmering white just adds a little touch of sparkle. Enjoy making an adorable card and of course, add your layers! What you will need: Paisley Stamp set Paisley Framelits Dies (on sale) Cherry Cobbler Ink Cherry Cobbler Cardstock Pumpkin Pie Ink Pumpkin Pie Marker Old Olive Ink Old Olive Cardstock Shimmery White Cardstock Pinecone  Embossing Folder 3-d popups Tape Directions: Stamp and color each of the images you wish to use. Emboss your background onto your shimmery white and begin to layer. Use any wording stamp you like. Sure can be universal. Stamping makes me happy! Love deeper and Talk sweeter and enjoy crafting!
